Morocco has now closed most things, and I am here for the long term. So here is a post about where I am staying and what it is like. I will return to posts about Rabat next week.

Corona
I have decided to stay where I am in Rabat for the duration of the epidemic.
Around Essaouira
As I hired a car to take Linda back to Marrakech airport, I decided to keep it for a few more days and explore a little more widely. I have also walked in some of the area just outside Essaouira.
The town of Essaouira
Essaouira is located on a rocky outcrop on a bay which is protected by islands. To north and south of the rocks are sandy beaches with sand dunes behind, and a hinterland of sandy thorny scrub. The islands make the bay a safe anchorage.
Essaouira
I arrived in Essaouira from Casablanca nearly 3 weeks ago now, but had Linda as a visitor for 2 weeks until yesterday, so have not got my head round this blog until today.
Azemmour
On Monday I went south by train for about an hour to Azemmour as I had heard that it was unaffected by tourists, and just a small Moroccan town near the mouth of a river. Reports were happily correct.
